You've been working hard all year to make good grades and fully utilize your education. It can be tempting to go back as the summer approaches. While a little rest is due, there's some digging to be done as well. Let's take a look at the three reasons we think dedicating some weeks to our program would give you the summer of your dreams.



Get to know other people with similar interests and drives:

Every summer, top-performing students from different parts of the globe come together at Stanford University to gain knowledge from renowned instructors, as well as from one another. This is an ideal chance for you to exchange experiences, exchange educational tips, and work towards common aspirations with your peers.


Find out how to pursue your passion:

Simply participating in a summer program may not be enough to set you apart in the competitive college and university application process. However, engaging in captivating seminars and going on awe-inspiring expeditions can serve as a solid foundation for further exploring your interests beyond the program's conclusion. By building on these experiences, you can develop a unique and compelling application that highlights your commitment to your passions.


Look at what it's like to live on campus:

If Stanford University has been your dream school, participating in an on-campus residency program can provide you with the chance to see if it's the right fit for you. During several weeks, you will get to immerse yourself in the daily life of Palo Alto, and determine if this renowned institution in California aligns with your academic and personal goals.

Summer Programs at Stanford


1. RISE Summer Internship Program

Work in an active research laboratory for seven weeks. In addition, in the science and math classes, you must have at least a 3.5 weighted GPA with all your As and Bs. Furthermore, you should come from a low-income family and live within 25 miles of the Stanford campus. You'll also have to be the first person in your family to graduate from college. If you use this form, ask your teacher to nominate you.

  • Grades: 9th, 10th, and 11th

  • Program Cost: $0

  • Application Deadline: February 15th

2. Stanford Medical Youth Science Summer Residential Program

Spend five weeks growing your interest in medicine into a body of knowledge. To be eligible, you must live and have attended high school in North or Central California. In addition, you must come from a low-income family and have an average grade in science classes of B- or higher.


Grades: 10th and 11th

  • Program Cost: $0

  • Application Deadline: February 13th

3. Stanford Earth Young Investigators | Environment

Get involved this summer in a research group devoted to studying the environment if sustainability is your passion. To participate in this event, you must be from the San Francisco Bay Area.

  • Grades: 9th, 10th, and 11th

  • Program Cost: $0

  • Application Deadline: None listed

4. Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes | Topics in Politics and Public Policy

Deliberative Democracy Is democracy inevitable? Try answering this question within three weeks, as well as other questions related to governance theory.


Grades: 9th, 10th, and 11th

  • Program Cost: $7,250

  • Priority Deadline: January 30th

  • Application Deadline: February 27th

5. Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes | Product Design

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves design but hasn't built out their portfolio to come up with a large project in a short period of time.

  • Grades: 9th, 10th, and 11th

  • Program Cost: $7,250

  • Priority Deadline: January 30th

  • Application Deadline: February 27th
